Be sure to check the requirements for each plant to see if they prefer a shady spot, dappled shading, or like to sit in full sun.
There are many many perennials to choose from. Try all one color a monotone display. In shady areas the lighter colors will display much more prevalent. Or use a lighter color as a backdrop for your darker colors.
